Jalgaon , Thousands of mourners thronged the funeral venue as Jain Irrigation Founder Chairman Bhavarlal Jain was cremated with full state honours at Jain Hills, Jalgaon this afternoon. The funeral pyre was lit by his eldest son Ashok alongwith the other sons Anil, Ajit and Atul.
At the cremation ceremony marked by a gun salute, the dignitaries present to pay their last respects to the departed visionary included former President, Smt. Pratibha Patil; former Union Minister of Agriculture, Sharad Pawar; Ministers of State, Eknath Khadse, Girish Mahajan and Dadasaheb Bhuse, former SEBI Chairman, D R Mehta and a large number of senior officials representing the state government, district and police.
Earlier, thousands of his admirers paid a tearful homage to a man who pioneered the drip irrigation technology which has been instrumental in bringing prosperity to millions of farmers in India.
People from all walks of life condoled the death of the visionary, who died in Mumbai on Thursday, 25th February, 2016.
